Pager Instructions:

With BellSouth's Interactive Pager you can obtain Two-Way quotes and place certain orders for stocks through InstantBroker.

Turning the RIM Interactive Pager On/Off

  • Turn On the pager by pressing the roller wheel.
  • Turn Off the pager by selecting "Power Off" from the Setup menu.

Receiving, Replying to, and Deleting Messages

Depending how your Notify options are configured, when you receive a message, you may be alerted by a beep and/or vibration.

To Read a Message:

Highlight the new message and select "Open" from the Messages menu, or double-click the roller wheel. The message body displays.

To Reply to a Message:

  1. From the Messages list, open the message you wish to reply to. The message displays.
  2. Select "Reply" or "Reply with text" from the Messages menu. The To: screen displays.
  3. Type your reply, then select "Send" from the Messages menu.

To Delete a Message:

  1. Highlight or open the message you wish to delete. The message displays.
  2. Select "Delete" from the screen's menu.
  3. You are prompted to confirm the operation. Press Y to delete the message or N to cancel.

Entering Messages

To Enter a Message:

  • ALT key for alternate keyboard characters, which are displayed in orange above the keys.
  • ALT + CAP key to lock the CAP feature and type in all upper case characters.
  • ALT + SPACE keys to access and select from the following additional Alternate Symbols to add to your messages, including: ( ) { } < > [ ] \ & ^ | - % #
  • The CAP key causes the next entered character to be capitalized.
  • The ENTER key to force text to the next line. Otherwise, words wrap automatically at the end of a line.
  • The Roller Wheel navigates various menu and text selections. Roll the roller wheel to position a highlight bar or cursor on text and menu items. Click the roller wheel, the same way you would click a mouse, to make your menu and text selections.

Address Information

You can enter, save, edit, and delete address information. To open your Address Book, select "Address" from the Messages or Saved Messages menu. Enter the information that applies to your recipient:

  • First Name/Last Name - Identifies the person receiving your message. 
  • Company - Identifies the company name that the person receiving your message belongs to.
  • Phone - Includes the area code, but does not include a leading 1, spaces, or punctuation.
  • e-mail - Includes a valid user name and the Internet domain name, separated by an @ symbol and a period for example: jsmith@corp.com
  • 1-way Alphanumeric Pager - Identifies the Personal Identification Number (PIN) for the 1-Way pager of the person receiving you message, and the telephone number (or alias address) for modem access to the recipient's 1-way alphanumeric paging service.
  • Interactive Pager - Specifies the username assigned to an Interactive Paging subscriber.
  • Notes - Allows two lines of information for each Address Book entry. Your notes are for your reference only, and are not used by the service.

Customizing Pager Features and Message Options

The options available on the Setup menu allow you to customize the settings for message display, the Address Book, and the device. Set the time and date, assign on/off times, adjust the LCD screen contrast, set the key tone, duration for each keystroke, enable the pager to tone and/or vibrate, turn the pager's radio mode on and off.

To customize the features of your pager:

  1. Select "Setup from the Messages, Saved Messages, or Address screen menu.
  2. Select the option you want to customize.
  3. Scroll the roller wheel to move among each feature within an option.
  4. Hold down the ALT key and scroll the roller wheel to select from the choices for each feature.
  5. Select "Save" from the selected option's menu to save your changes and return to the Setup menu.

Sending Messages

To send a message:

  1. Select "Compose" from the Messages, Saved Messages, or Address menu. The To: screen displays.
  2. At the To: prompt, enter the recipient's address or select and address from your Address Book.
  3. Select a method for sending the message. The cursor is placed in the Subject: Field.
  4. Enter a subject and/or type your message in the message body.
  5. Note: To attach an address book entry, select "Attach Address" from the To: menu, and select the name of the address entry you are sending. The address entry is attached to the bottom of the message.
  6. Select "Send" from the to: menu. The message is sent.

InstantBroker will allow you to trade listed and NASDAQ stocks. You have the option of placing market or limit orders. Your Limit orders may be placed either good for the Day or Good until Cancelled in your cash or margin account. Note that you cannot status, cancel or cancel and replace any order through InstantBroker. In addition, orders involving other security types or equity orders with additional conditions must be placed through www.fidelity.com or through a Fidelity representative.
