Overview

InstantBroker on an internet-ready cellular phone allows non-Fidelity customers the ability to obtain delayed market information and allows Fidelity customers to receive real-time market information, access to account information, as well as, place eligible trades.


Quote

This allows the user to receive quote information on a domestically traded security. There are two versions of the quote services available based on whether you are a Fidelity customer. Fidelity customers can choose between real-time or delayed quote information, while other users access delayed quote information only.

There are two types of quote messages:

To send more than one symbol at a time. Enter the symbol delimited by a "space" (i.e. ABC EFG HIJ)

Options

Enter a dash (-) and the option symbol (XXXXX) then a period (.) and the exchange (W) which is Chicago (Example: -IBMAB.W). The exchanges are Chicago Board Options Exchange (W), American Options Exchange (A), Pacific Options Exchange (P), Philadelphia Options Exchange (X). If the exchange portion is not designated it will return a composite quote.

This is a user-defined list containing up to 10 symbols. Each user may have up to 5 watch lists. These lists return basic quote information with links to detail. Quotes are either delayed, or real-time (when logged in) for Fidelity Brokerage® customers.

This is a listing of the top 10 performing securities for either the NYSE, NASDAQ, or AMEX exchange for the current day in the following areas:


Place Trades

To place a trade, the user must have a valid brokerage account with Fidelity and have agreed to the terms of the InstantBroker User Agreement. If you have a valid brokerage account and would like to see a tutorial on how to use the trading application, please logon to Fidelity.com and select InstantBroker from the Alerts tab under accounts and trade. Click the Help link on the left side of the screen. Then choose "Trading on Internet-Ready Phones" from the table of contents.


Account Information

This is a list of existing positions within a specified account priced real-time. This screen requires a valid user ID and PIN number to access your information. Depending on the number of accounts that you have, you will be presented with a list of accounts to choose from and then the positions in that account.


Balances

Receive your NetBenefits(sm) plan balances, Personal Investing account balances, and a portfolio total.(1) Select individual accounts for a more detailed view.


Glossary

Information

Description

Security Name (Symbol)

The full name and symbol for a stock.

Date/Time

The date and time of the last order to buy or sell the security. Delayed quotes are delayed by at least 20 minutes. The date and time are in Eastern U.S. time.

Last Trade [tick]

The unit price of the most recent trade for shares of this stock on the primary exchange, and the upward [+] or downward [-] movement since its previous order.

Change

The dollar amount change in the price of the security since the previous trading day’s close.

% Change

The percent change in the price of the security from the previous trading day’s close.

Last Trade Size

Number of shares or units traded in the most recent trade for this security.

Bid

The highest price a prospective buyer would pay for a unit of this security at a given point in time.

Bid Size

The number of round lots currently available at the bid price. For example, if this field displays 15, that represents 15 round lots or 1500 shares.

Ask

Lowest price a prospective seller would accept for a unit of this security at a given point in time, also known as "offer."

Ask Size

The number of round lots offered at the ask price. For example, if this field displays 20, that represents 20 round lots or 2000 shares.

Last Trade Exchange

The exchange on which the last trade for this security was executed.

Bid Exchange

The exchange from which the Bid price was quoted.

Ask Exchange

The exchange from which the Ask price was quoted.

Open

The price of the security at the start of the current trading day.

High

The highest price traded for this security during the current trading day.

Low

Lowest price traded for this security during the current trading day.

Previous Close

The final trading price for the security at the end of the most recent trading day.

Volume

The number of shares of this security for which orders were placed for the current trading day on all exchanges.

52 Week High

The highest price at which this security has been purchased or sold in the last 52 weeks.

52 Week Low

The lowest price at which this security has been purchased or sold in the last 52 weeks.

X Dividend Date

The date on which a stock goes ex-dividend and its price decreases by the amount of the dividend. If you purchase the stock between the ex-dividend date and the dividend payment date, you are not entitled to the dividend.

Dividend Pay Date

The date on which the stock dividend is paid.

Yield

Dollar amount per share of the last dividend paid.

EPS

The earnings per share of the security, the net income available for the common stock divided by the number of shares outstanding.

P/E Ratio

The unit price divided by the reported earnings per share. Also called the multiple, this ratio indicates how much you are paying for the company's earning power.

Primary Exchange

Where the security is primarily purchased or sold.
